Meet Mariette Mikhael
NSW State-wide MAP Support Coordinator

With over Mariette started working at the ECCNSW in June 1999. She initially worked as an bilingual environmental educator for the Sustainable Living project.
For the last few years she has coordinated a number of projects including the state-wide Household Problem Waste, Water Wise for Multicultural Communities, Tech Savvy Seniors and Ku-ring-gai Cultural Connections for Sustainability projects.
Mariette co ordinates and supports the ECC bilingual educators who educate and develop CALD communities at the grass roots level. Over the years Mariette has developed strong networks and collaborations with a range of multicultural agencies and local governments.
Growing up in a countryside in north Lebanon, Mariette nurtured a love, respect and admiration for Mother Nature.
Mariette ‘s background is in social work. She has worked as a family support worker in a women’s refuge, assisting women and children escape domestic violence and homelessness.
Passion, commitment for social justice, equal access for all communities and a better environment are the drivers for Mariette’s work at the ECC.

Meet Jenelyn Terkildsen
Central Coast MAP

Jenelyn Terkildsen currently works with Connectability Australia as Multicultural Access Project (MAP) Officer for the Central Coast and My Aged Care Team Leader (SSI-CHSP). She has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Social Welfare) from Charles Sturt University. Certificate in Language Teaching – University of Wollongong and was a Public School Elementary School Head Teacher in the Philippines. She shares her communities’ love for dance and singing and the joy of working and meeting so many people through her programs.

Meet John Biswas
Hunter MAP

John Biswas is the Sector Support and Development Officer – Multicultural Access Project at the Northern Settlement Services Ltd. John has training in disability advocacy, community services advocacy and theology with extensive experience in community development, disability advocacy and multicultural community engagement. Until recently John Chaired the Hunter CALD Elder Abuse Prevention Network.  John also Chaired the Hunter CALD Disability Engagement Reference Group from 2016 to May 2018

Meet Madeline Yan
Northern Sydney Region MAP

Madeline Yan joined Hornsby Council as the Sector Support and Development and Multicultural Access Project Officer in early October this year. Before joining the Council, Madeline was the team leader in Ability Links, a state-funded program in building inclusion for people with disabilities. Madeline has worked in management and performance improvement roles in human services, local governments and business sectors.

Meet Christine Racar

Christine Racar is a Policy and Project Officer at Community Industry Group. She has extensive experience in the aged and community sectors including roles in training, Mental Health, Work Health and Safety, quality systems, social housing, health promotion and injury management. She also served as Chair of the South Australian WHS Aged Care Consultative Committee for over 10 years

Meet Renica Adam

Renica has been in the aged care industry for over twenty (20) years. A passionate member of the community, Renica has been integral in providing a voice for migrant and refugee communities. She has assisted seniors and aged care service providers link together to ensure the community is well supported through the ageing journey and understands the challenges that can be faced when the infrastructure and supports are not always there.

Meet Sharitah

Sharitah has a background in Health and Social Work and has been working in the aged care space for over 15 years.

Sharitah has experience working across various programs in the aged care sector including rolling out the Culturally Appropriate Care in Residential Aged Care for the NSW State Government. She has worked in education, preparing tertiary students for the allied health workforce. She also has experience in community development ranging from volunteer programs in aged care and disability to working with service providers and building capacity within metropolitan and regional areas. Her experience spans working in advisory roles within the health, dementia and palliative care environments.

Meet Lorena

Lorena has joined The Multicultural Network team as the Multicultural Access Project (MAP) Officer. The role covers the SWS region operating across Bankstown, Canterbury, Liverpool and Fairfield. She has a diploma in sales and marketing, tourism, hospitality and has experience working in the the aged care sector across CHSP programs particularly the social support programs.

With over 18 years experience working with people from different backgrounds and industry’s I was able to develop strong networks and partnerships with a variety of services promoting events and supports which focused on the client and consumer. This experience provided me with a unique approach to understanding what CALD consumers needs are as service users.

I have a passion for aged care and aim to focus on broadening and developing new partnerships across the aged care , marketing and customer service industries and improving the way in which we reach out and engage with our culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Meet Sora Machida

Sora was previously part of the Chronic and Complex Care team at Mount Druitt community health centre working as a CHSP dietitian conducting home visits to see clients and carers at their home environment. Transferring to Multicultural Health Service has enabled her to work closely not only with consumers but CHSP Service providers and other organisations which has enabled her to engage with the community in a wider spectrum. Western Sydney is rich in diversity and its demography is continuously changing which is challenging, but at the same time an asset which brings so much more to the plate and enriches the community.

Meet Julie Fraser

Julie has been working in the aged care sector for twelve (12) years. She has been leading her six (6) QLD MAS team members for the last five (5) years, reaching all corners of the state, including regional and rural areas. Julie has a passion for working with CALD communities. She believes the only way to move forward is to create a system which involves the CALD consumer at all levels of design and delivery.
